PROBLEM

PROBLEM SPACE
It is really hard to secure your belongings when you travel or go out from your house. You maybe exposed to a lot of danger out there, for example pick-pocket, thief and so on. To control all these crime activities is not a small matter as they are very smart and quick  while we are not alert enough to protect our valuable items.Besides, we all know sometimes we tend to leave our belongings somewhere and return home without it until we realised we have lost it. So we wanted to create a security system which can be used to provide a very safe environment to protect the belongings of the users in a very simple way at anytime and anywhere.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM

We found that the existing application that is a bit similar to our system is SALIENTEYE application that is available in the play store for free.

• Firstly, this application does not have good usability goals. It is not effective to use because it does not provide the icons with name or words to be choose. We do not know what should be do next and its lack of guidance. We took time to figure it out how to use and navigate around. The middle part which is the eye should be press to start recording. But we do not know that because there are not enough explanation.

• Next, the problem with this application is that it consume a lot of battery due to the use of camera for a very long time. It is not efficient to use as it drain the battery power just like that. We need to use the camera for a long time because the application detect any motion after the alarm is being activated. The main problem lies with the idea itself and not the system. They should know that it s not appropriate to use a smartphone as a camera device. So the usability goals is not fulfilled.

• In addition, the system has a very poor settings and security. We do even need to provide our information like the rest of the application available and we can skip everything and directly go to the main function which is the recording part. We do not need to register anything, and can just skip the setup directly. This make the user less satisfying and does not achieve the user experience goals. The password to disarm the alarm itself is not protected and can be able to be view by anyone.

• Futhermore, the application is not attractive enough. It does not have good colour combination and beautiful icons. Its designed in a very easy way without much concern on the user enjoyment when using the application. When a user is not attracted to the application, they may uninstall it because they feel like its boring. Hence again user experience goals is not taken into consideration.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

ImHere is the solution to the existing application developed by us. ImHere is a security alarm device which will be put together with valuable belongings which will be triggered if the alarm device are not in the radius of 10 meter from the smartphone which will be used to activate the alarm device.

• We planned to provide the user with guidance in a very simple and easy which allow user to navigate the application without any problems. The guidance includes voice guide and also icon that comes with name. Hence, this application can interact with user freely and become more user friendly.

• Next, we are not going to use the camera of the smartphone which is actually a bad idea. Instead of that, we are going to use a small rechargable bluetooth device to trigger the alarm and alert the user through the smartphone. So, user do not need to waste their smartphone battery on camera just to detect a motion.

• In addition, we are going to build high security application which allow user to log in with their email and password to make sure that no one else can access the application except the user himself. The password will be needed each time user log in into the app for security purposes. The user can also view and track the activation and deactivation time of the alarm.

• Then, we are going to use a very nice and colourful interface which is more attractive and beautiful to make sure it satisfy the user.

OBJECTIVE

Our objective is actually to create a very simple and easy system that can help everyone to protect their belongings anywhere at anytime. We want to provide a very safe environment to everyone and make sure they are worry-free. 

SCOPE

Security of our belongings are very important nowadays because there is a lot danger out there. Thus, this device is created to allow us to be alert and more careful on taking care of our properties. This technology might sound simple but in a way, its so helpful towards the society.

MEASUREABLE OBJECTIVE

• The effective sound of the alarm and the degree of loudness.
• Time taken for the alarm to trigger.
• The size of the alarm device.

TARGET USERS

• University students : Many university students are really busy with their work and assignment until they forget to keep their belongings safe with them.

• Frequent Public Transport User: They travel everyday to work and meet with a lot of people publicly which can cause them to be in danger zone.

• Parents with small kids : They might not be able to take care of their children all the time. They will be busy with their household and cleaning works. So, this will help them to look after their children from going too far from them.
